I joined an open-source ecommerce platform early and worked across marketing, channel, and sales as it grew from a startup into an acquisition.
The situation
The platform was young and competing against established enterprise vendors. It needed customers who would prove it could run serious businesses, and partners who would build on it.
What I did
I started as a project manager at a firm the platform acquired, running site implementations end to end: requirements, scoping, pricing, contracts, design, ERP integration, and custom development.
I then moved into channel and sales. I secured partnerships with national systems integrators. As an account executive, I closed Fortune 500 accounts in office technology, automotive, and music.
The result
I was the top salesperson two years running, with $1.3M closed one year and $2M the next. The company was acquired in 2011.
